Job summary

GridUnity is seeking a full-time Financial Controller with strong expertise in government grant management and SaaS business models. This role will lead the DOE grant reporting & invoicing, monthly financial close, bookkeeping, GAAP accounting, ASC 606 compliance, reporting, and tax planning while ensuring our SaaS operations scale efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Must have experience managing government grants and compliance reporting.
• 7+ years of experience in financial management, including SaaS business finance.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, SaaS revenue models, and financial metrics.
• Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems (QuickBooks Online).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial reports.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models aligned with objectives.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, and expense optimization.
• Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Monitor SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, LTV, CAC) for growth.
• Implement scalable financial processes to support SaaS growth.
• Oversee DOE grant administration and reporting.
• Establish cost accounting policies for DOE invoicing.
• Coordinate with project managers to meet grant milestones.
• Ensure GAAP, tax compliance; manage external audits.
• Lead internal controls and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
