Job summary

Zyte seeks a senior Rust engineer to own the cross‑platform peer runtime across Windows, Android, and Linux, with macOS on the roadmap. You will integrate native OS APIs via FFI and drive reliability and security across devices.

You will port to Android, work with Chromium/network stacks, and build observable metrics for fleet health while collaborating with a global, remote‑first team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Rust experience across Windows, Android, Linux (and macOS soon).
• Cross‑platform Rust expertise with experience on at least two platforms (Windows/macOS/Android).
• Strong understanding of OS permissions, processes, and background behavior.
• Fluent with interfacing Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs (JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX).
• Deep networking knowledge of TCP, TLS, and HTTP; ability to analyze network traffic.

Responsibilities

• Own the cross-platform Rust peer runtime across Windows, Android, Linux (and macOS coming soon) including lifecycles and updates.
• Port the peer to Android using NDK/JNI with foreground services and battery optimizations.
• Integrate Chromium network stack and browserless HTTP clients into Rust libraries via safe FFI.
• Collect hardware/OS signals and map network fingerprints to inform other teams.
• Build precise per-device metrics for uptime, bandwidth, and success rates.
• Join on-call rotation and contribute to post-mortems and architectural improvements.
• Draft RFCs and set standards for cross‑platform Rust delivery at Zyte.
• Collaborate with global teams and work in a remote-first environment.
