Zyte is seeking a senior Rust engineer to design and operate the Edge Platform and fleet management for world‑scale web data extraction. You will build scalable data plane components, proxies, and control planes across Windows, Linux, and Android targets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Rust experience, shipping and operating services you own end to end.
• Distributed systems: schedulers, control planes or stateful services at scale.
• Deep networking: TCP, TLS and HTTP at the handshake and packet level, gRPC across NAT and lossy links.
• Proxy expertise: built or operated forward proxies, proxy gateways or residential/ISP proxy infra; IP reputation and session health.
• Ops and reliability: SLOs and error budgets, on-call; incident leadership.
• Cross‑platform awareness: Rust on Windows, Linux and Android; FFI boundaries for data plane needs.
• Async communication: strong written communication for a globally distributed, remote‑first environment.
• Open source contributions: to Rust, networking or distributed‑systems projects.

Responsibilities

• Scale the data plane and evolve CNC to 50–100M requests per day.
• Build the Fleet Manager control plane with inventory, health, configuration and rollout capabilities; exporter to BigQuery.
• Own the proxy path: improve CONNECT proxy gateway and edge session handling.
• Engineer networking: mTLS gRPC, long‑poll and streaming over NAT and lossy links.
• Define SLOs, metrics, blue/green rollouts, and reliability practices.
• Share production ownership: on‑call rotation and incident post‑mortems.
• Write design docs for scheduling, fleet management and failover; ensure distributed‑systems rigor.
