Job summary

Qualifications

• Post high school education
• At least 1 year of prior chargemaster, billing and/or coding experience
• Or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and revenue codes
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, OneNote)
• Epic experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Understand chargemaster setup and assist in review and maintenance
• Maintain knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding and revenue codes
• Complete accurate and timely charge capture by reviewing documentation and entering charges
• Audit billing processes for reasonableness and accuracy
• Distribute charge-related communications to relevant departments
• Provide input on documentation deficits affecting charges
• Assist with account fixes and resolution of incomplete charging information
• Manage daily workqueues to resolve bill holds and billing edits
• Report findings from workqueues and follow-up analysis
• Serve as first point of contact for clinical staff on billing questions and process improvements
• Educate staff to ensure coding and billing compliance and reduce missed revenue opportunities
• Train and support charge reconciliation processes in clinical areas
• Develop and implement actions to minimize late or missing charges
• Collaborate with other departments to fix errors and improve denial rates
• Perform other duties as assigned
