Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced professional to lead local government affairs across the United States in support of our data center site strategy. You will engage with cities, counties, and regional bodies to advance data center priorities and strengthen community relationships, reporting to the Public Policy Manager, Local Government Affairs.

This role can be based remotely in Indiana or Ohio, with frequent travel up to 80%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs
• Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in our data center site locations
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy and the advocacy landscape in region
• Experience working cross-functional
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns directly relevant to state and local government, including achieving short- and long-term milestones related to advancing policy, political, and/or advocacy goals
• Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking skills in time-sensitive settings
• Experience communicating nuanced concepts to a wide array of audiences

Responsibilities

• Lead Meta's local government affairs across current and future data center sites in the United States.
• Build and execute a national local government affairs strategy for site objectives across cities, counties, municipalities, and regional bodies.
• Work directly with local policymakers to advance data center investment, permitting, and economic development.
• Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance local policies benefiting the company and communities.
• Partner with Meta's Infrastructure and Data Center teams to align policy engagement with site timelines and commitments.
• Engage with industry groups, nonprofits, and associations to promote economic development and open internet policies.
• Collaborate with Community Engagement to engage chambers of commerce, industry associations, and civil society groups.
• Ensure cross-functional partners receive timely updates on local policy developments.
• Manage relationships with local policymakers, contract lobbyists, and trade associations.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time based on need.
