Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced policy professional to lead local government affairs for its data center strategy across the United States, collaborating with cities, counties, and regional bodies to advance infrastructure, permitting, and economic development.

This role reports to the Public Policy Manager, Local Government Affairs and can be remote in IN or OH, with up to 80% travel. Strong knowledge of policy, advocacy, and AI-enabled workflows is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs.
• Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in data center site locations.
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy.
• Experience working cross-functionally.
• Experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns for state and local government.
• Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking in time-sensitive settings.
• Experience communicating nuanced concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead Meta's local government affairs across current and future data center sites in the US.
• Build and execute a national local government affairs strategy.
• Collaborate with local policymakers to advance data center infrastructure investment and permitting.
• Monitor political environment to identify opportunities.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure and Data Center teams on site development timelines.
• Engage with industry groups, nonprofits, and associations to promote policy goals.
• Partner with Community Engagement to engage with chambers of commerce, associations, nonprofits.
• Ensure cross-functional partners receive timely updates on local policy developments.
• Manage relationships with policymakers, contract lobbyists, and trade associations.
• Travel up to 80% as needed.
