The role requires state/local policy, political engagement, and issue advocacy expertise, with knowledge of internet, infrastructure, and economic development policy. Remote work possible in IN/OH; travel up to 80% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs.
  • Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in data center locations.
  • Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy.
  • Experience working cross-functional.
  • Experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns related to state/local government.
  • Creative problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Experience communicating nuanced concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Meta's local government affairs efforts across current and future data center sites in the United States.
  • Build and execute a national local government affairs strategy across cities, counties, and regional bodies.
  • Work with local policymakers to advance data center infrastructure investment, permitting, and economic development.
  • Monitor political environment and identify opportunities to advance local policies.
  • Partner with Infrastructure and Data Center teams to align policy with site development timelines.
  • Engage with industry groups, nonprofits, and associations to promote policies for economic development and open internet.
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement team to engage chambers and civil society groups.
  • Keep cross-functional partners updated on local policy developments.
  • Manage relationships with local policymakers, contract lobbyists, and trade associations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%.
