Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Small Business Banking Underwriter for a hybrid role covering Kansas City, MO; Dubuque, IA; and Denver, CO. You will analyze cash flows, collateral and financial statements to support credit decisions and loan structuring.

The role requires 2+ years in commercial lending, strong MS Office skills, and excellent communication. You will partner with loan teams to move deals through underwriting and closings while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of lending policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in business, marketing or finance.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial lending or related banking.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and marketing practices.
• Knowledge of SBSS Scoring Model preferred.
• Ability to analyze and review loan applications for underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements
• Utilize bank systems for loan processing and completion of loan proposal
• Complete underwriting and communicate credit decisions within SLA benchmarks
• Work closely with bank associates to facilitate loan closings
• Manage pipeline of credits and prioritize incoming credit requests and tasks
• Maintain working knowledge and stay current on lending and other bank policies
