Job summary

UMB Bank in a hybrid role seeks a Small Business Banking Underwriter to analyze credit requests for small business clients, perform cash flow, capital and collateral analysis, and structure approved loans in line with policy and regulations.

You will review financial statements, use bank systems for loan processing, communicate decisions within SLA, support loan closings, and manage a healthy credit pipeline while staying current on lending policies and SBSS scoring models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or finance preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial lending or related banking.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements
• Utilize bank systems for loan processing and completion of loan proposal
• Complete underwriting and communicate credit decisions within SLA benchmarks
• Work closely with bank associates to facilitate loan closings
• Manage pipeline of credits and prioritize incoming credit requests and tasks
