Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Small Business Banking Underwriter to analyze credit requests for small business clients, performing cash flow, capital and collateral analyses and making decisions in line with policy.

This hybrid role covers Kansas City, MO; Dubuque, IA; and Denver, CO, requiring collaboration with loan teams, managing a credit pipeline and ensuring timely closures while staying abreast of lending regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or finance preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial lending or related banking.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Knowledge of SBSS Scoring Model preferred.
• Ability to analyze loan applications for underwriting profitability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements.
• Use bank systems for loan processing and loan proposals.
• Complete underwriting and communicate credit decisions within SLA.
• Work with bank associates to facilitate loan closings.
• Manage pipeline of credits and prioritize tasks.
