Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a fully remote, U.S.-based role serving a Federal Government client. The position requires extensive experience in quantum computing, cryptography, with proficiency in Python, C++, and Java.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain a Public Trust clearance, and willing to travel occasionally. This is a W-2, 100% remote position with strict eligibility and security screening.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in quantum computing and cryptography.
• Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
• Experience with NIST and ISO/IEC 19790 standards.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms.
• Advise on migration plans for quantum-resistant cryptography (PQC) implementation strategies.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203, 204, 205).
