Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer to work on government-grade cryptographic modernization from a remote location. The role emphasizes research, strategy, and hands-on development in quantum-safe solutions.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in IT with quantum cryptography expertise, strong knowledge of NIST PQC standards, and experience communicating risk to leadership. Travel may be required; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Qualifications

10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in quantum computing and cryptography.
Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
Experience with quantum programming languages and frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS QDK).
Experience with post-quantum cryptography and PQC algorithms.
Experience with cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790).
Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools.
PM experience in large orgs or government contexts.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
Advise on migration to quantum-resistant PQC strategies.
Assess cryptographic inventory and prioritize migrations.
Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203-205).
