Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% U.S.-based remote role with a Federal Government client. The position requires extensive experience in quantum computing and cryptography, with leadership and policy input duties. A Public Trust security clearance and U.S.

citizenship are required. You will implement and test cryptographic algorithms, migrate toward quantum-resistant solutions, and communicate risk to senior leadership while aligning with NIST

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing/cryptography in a large org or govt agency
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms, and quantum information theory
• Experience with quantum programming languages and frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS QDK)
• Experience with post-quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant algorithms
• Familiarity with NIST PQC standards and cryptographic modernization

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java
• Advise on PQC migration plans and PQC implementation strategies
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Provide inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with standards (FIPS 203-205)
