Job summary

Cardiff is seeking a Python backend engineer to own the data integration layer for financial data pipelines. You will build FastAPI services, integrate external providers, and develop Snowflake-based data models running on AWS.

The role emphasizes fast, reliable data delivery for underwriting and risk decisions, with opportunities to apply AI/LLM tooling and expand data platforms. This is a remote, contractor-to-full-time pathway.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend engineering on data-intensive systems.
• Production backend services built in a modern Python framework with API design, auth, testing, and async programming.
• Experience with Snowflake production workloads and AWS data services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and run FastAPI services delivering financial and credit data to internal consumers.
• Own external provider integrations (Experian, Plaid, bank data) with retries, rate limits, and secure handling.
• Build data pipelines landing provider data in Cardiff systems (Snowflake on AWS) with serverless ETL.
• Map schemas and ensure data consistency across providers.
• Apply LLMs for extraction/classification with validation before shipping.
