Job summary

Telex LLC in the United States is seeking a Protection and Control Technician I (Remote) to support field teams in inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation protection and control systems. This role is designed for early-career technicians working under close supervision.

The position involves travel to customer sites, performing start-up, data collection, and basic relay testing with Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe, while developing procedures and reports

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of field experience in relay testing and substation controls under supervision.
• Associate degree or equivalent in EPC/Electrical Power & Controls or related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to distinguish color-coded wires and related materials.
• Commitment to electrical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up, and collect data on LV/MV systems.
• Assist project lead with functional testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and breaker controls.
• Support isolation, setpoint testing, logic testing and basic scheme testing.
• Assist with end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe.
• Assist in installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relays and SCADA systems.
• Develop written commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for relays, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, and communications.
• Generate basic customer reports describing issues found and corrective actions taken.
• Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers, vendors, and service providers.
