Job summary

Telex LLC is seeking a Protection and Control Technician I (Remote) to support field teams in inspecting, testing, commissioning, and maintaining substation protection and control systems. This entry-level role helps build foundational relay testing experience under close supervision.

You will travel to customer sites, perform basic relay tests, assist with project tasks, and contribute to documenting procedures and reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years in field relay testing, substation controls and commissioning under supervision.
• Associate degree or equivalent in EPC/EE or military power systems training or Journeyman Electrician experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on electrical systems.
• Assist project lead with functional testing of substation control circuits on relay panels and breakers.
• Support isolation, setpoint testing, and basic scheme testing.
• Assist with end-to-end relay testing using protection software to verify schemes.
• Assist in developing commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for relays and communication systems.
• Generate basic customer reports describing issues and corrective actions.
• Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers and vendors.
