Job summary

Telex, LLC in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Technician (Remote) to support substation projects with protective relaying, testing, and troubleshooting. You will perform commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA, and automation systems while coordinating with engineers and clients to deliver high‑quality results.

Qualifications

Experience in relay testing, calibration, or substation commissioning is required.
Strong understanding of three‑phase power systems and protection schemes.
Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
Conduct end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
Execute functional and scheme testing including reclosing, breaker failure, logic schemes, and communication‑assisted protection.
Troubleshoot protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and 8979 using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
Support development of standardized testing procedures.
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure reliable project outcomes.
Provide guidance to junior technicians when needed.
