Job summary

The County of El Dorado is seeking a Property Transfer Specialist in the Assessor's Office (Placerville, CA) to review and verify complex legal property documents, and to determine appropriate actions under applicable laws.

You will answer questions from title companies, property owners, and others; perform data entry and maintain records, with emphasis on accuracy and thorough research.

Qualifications

• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in an Assessor's office, Recorder's Office, or title company, or equivalent office experience working with legal descriptions and/or legal documents relating to real property at a level equivalent to the County's class of Assessment Technician II.
• College level coursework in a related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receives, reviews and analyzes various legal property related documents to determine appropriate actions; answers questions from the public regarding processing of documents; analyzes data and enters information into the system.
• Makes change of ownership determinations based on taxpayer responses to discovery documents.
• Answers complex ownership questions from title companies, property owners or their agents, attorneys or tax representatives; prepares correspondence as needed.
• Resolves ownership questions and clarifies understanding of property transfers through probate proceedings and court determinations as they relate to various interests.
• Enters information into computer systems with high accuracy; maintains logs and statistics.
