Job summary

Harrington Group, Inc. is seeking Property Loss Control Engineers and Senior Property Loss Control Engineers for a remote, U.S.-based full-time role.

The position emphasizes technical leadership, client advocacy, and risk‑based design for high‑value commercial and industrial facilities. You will review insurer reports, develop risk-reduction strategies, conduct site surveys, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with a remote-friendly team.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required (Fire Protection or related).
• 3+ years PLC engineering experience with HPR clients; 8+ years for Senior.
• PE license or EIT status preferred.
• U.S. citizenship or valid work visa required.
• Strong technical foundation with client-focused execution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to client personnel, managing communications, priorities, and expectations for engagements.
• Evaluate insurer property loss control reports, recommendations, and Loss Expectancies (LEs), advising on priority based on frequency, severity, and ROI.
• Develop alternative risk-reduction solutions with anticipated costs, and negotiate acceptance with insurers and stakeholders.
• Provide client representation and advocacy during insurer property loss control surveys and discussions.
• Review project submittals and technical reviews, resolving recommendations addressing property risks from fire and natural hazards.
• Establish and review design specifications for construction and fire protection systems for new or modified facilities.
• Advise client project teams from pre-construction through commissioning for commercial and industrial facilities.
• Conduct site surveys, fire hazard analyses, water supply evaluations, and property loss investigations; prepare summary reports and lessons learned.
• Develop and deliver client training on human element programs, such as hot work management and impairment management.
• Provide technical mentorship to less experienced PLC engineers, including field oversight as experience grows.
• Assist with development and documentation of processes, procedures, and service standards to improve quality and efficiency of the PLC practice.
