Job summary

ICF is seeking a full-time Project Archaeologist (Remote) to support the cultural resources practice in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. You will conduct fieldwork, write technical reports, and ensure NEPA and Section 106 compliance with a team of experienced professionals.

The role emphasizes project oversight, collaboration with historians and engineers, and opportunities to mentor junior staff across a range of federal and energy projects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or closely related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience.
• Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeology.

Responsibilities

• Direct archaeological surveys, testing, and data recovery fieldwork in the southeastern US and Mid-Atlantic.
• Field supervision of junior archaeologists during shovel tests and excavation units.
• Provide analysis for environmental regulatory reviews under NEPA, NHPA, and state requirements.
• Contribute to technical expertise in archaeology and documentation with senior colleagues.
• Write and produce technical reports or documents.
• Evaluate resources for the National Register of Historic Places.
• Develop resource management recommendations and assess project effects on resources.
• Lead or assist with Section 106 consultation.
