Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer to deliver high-level operational support for complex cloud systems within the VA team. This 100% remote position involves diagnosing outages, documenting issues, and working directly with customers to restore and optimize services.

You will maintain infrastructure, implement improvements, and ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable production systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering, production environments
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud (S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch)
• 3+ years SQL query/monitoring experience
• Proven ability to manage and maintain large-scale production systems

Responsibilities

• Detect, isolate, document, report, and resolve outages in complex application cloud systems
• Document problems using logging and discrepancy tools
• Collaborate with customers in day-to-day activities
• Respond to user issues and escalate when needed; communicate status to stakeholders
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures
• Maintain inventory of system assets
• Ensure VA standards and security policies
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned
