UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional medical coder to assign ICD-10 and CPT codes for professional services. The role requires CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, or similar credentials and at least two years of experience with ICD-10, CPT coding, and Windows-based EMR systems. Strong Excel skills and ability to manage multiple queues are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Professional coder certification with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC (CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems.
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines for professional accounts.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors assigned work queues to ensure records are charged/coded in a timely manner.
• Generates coding queries for clarification regarding physician documentation as needed.
• Stays abreast of changes in coding conventions and updates.
• Manage significant workload and work efficiently under pressure meeting deadlines.
