Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Compliance Consultant to join the Privacy Office within the Enterprise Compliance Department. You will lead and support initiatives to strengthen privacy compliance across the enterprise, acting as a Privacy SME to guide business units and establish privacy controls and reporting mechanisms.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration to embed privacy by design, develop metrics, and deliver enterprise privacy training and awareness programs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of comprehensive privacy program and regulatory compliance experience in insurance or financial services.
• BA/BS degree in business, law, risk management or related field or equivalent experience.
• CIPP-US/CIPM-US or other privacy certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support privacy initiatives to strengthen regulatory compliance.
• Provide secondary support for privacy incidents including review and documentation of regulatory impact.
• Manage privacy-related projects to enhance Symetra’s regulatory posture and maturity.
• Evaluate apps, systems, AI tools and third-party solutions for privacy implications and advise on controls.
• Translate GLBA, CCPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM into actionable guidance for stakeholders.
• Advise business lines on compliant use of personal information.
• Develop and operationalize external privacy notices and internal privacy policies.
