Job summary

Huntress, a remote-first cybersecurity company, seeks a Principal Security Researcher specialized in Windows EDR. You will design detectors, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and drive innovation across telemtry and analytics for 5M+ endpoints.

You will lead research initiatives, mentor teammates, and contribute to external talks and blogs while leveraging AI to accelerate impact and maintain state-of-the-art defenses against evolving threats.

Qualifications

• Expert in Windows OS internals and APIs with strong design knowledge.
• Experience with Windows kernel coding and device drivers.
• Proven ability to test EDRs, bypasses, and evasion techniques.
• Comfortable with reverse engineering and debuggers.
• Proficient in C/C++/C#, PowerShell, and Python.
• Uses AI to improve research quality and speed; documents findings clearly.
• Familiar with MITRE ATT&CK, SIGMA, Yara, and Elasticsearch/Kibana.

Responsibilities

• Identify Windows OS threat detection opportunities and create effective features.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Detection teams to implement logic.
• Investigate telemetry opportunities and address coverage gaps.
• Lead research initiatives and document findings for customers and teams.
• Mentor others and represent Huntress in media, CFPs, and blogs.
