Job summary
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead structural design and analysis for Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) hardware. The role supports remote or onsite work in Huntsville, AL, Niceville, FL, or Hampton, AR, with travel up to 25%.
Ideal candidates bring extensive structural engineering experience, CAD/CAE proficiency, and the ability to lead complex projects, collaborate across teams, and deliver robust, validated designs for propulsion
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree with 8–10 years of engineering experience.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred for advanced roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and verify SRM hardware including motor cases and nozzles.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and CAD/CAE outputs to ensure tolerances.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and optimize designs.
- Analyze customer proposals and data to assess feasibility, cost and maintenance needs.
- Identify and specify components to meet performance specs; troubleshoot failures.
