Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks a Cultural Resources Lead-level Archaeologist - Principal Investigator to guide projects in the Pacific Northwest. You will develop proposals, lead teams, oversee fieldwork, and ensure technical reports meet quality standards.

This role reports to the Pacific Northwest Cultural Resources Director and supports hybrid/remote work arrangements. Ideal candidates bring a Master's (required) and Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology required.
• Ability to be listed on BLM cultural resources permits in the Pacific Northwest.
• Experience leading complex cultural resources projects and mentoring staff.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local cultural resources regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects, oversee technical approach, and ensure QA/QC.
• Mentor staff in technical excellence, leadership, and project strategy.
• Develop and oversee fieldwork, data collection, and final reports.
• Prepare and contribute to proposals; supervise staff as needed.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and agency/regulator contacts.
• Travel approximately 20% as required.
