Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks a Lead Archaeologist - Principal Investigator to join our Pacific Northwest Subregion. You will lead complex cultural resources projects, supervise fieldwork, draft reports, and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with regulations and client objectives.

The role offers hybrid/remote work within the Pacific Northwest, reporting to the Pacific Northwest Cultural Resources Director. Rolling applications and strong candidates will be considered as they arise.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology.
• Ability to be listed on BLM cultural resources permits in the Pacific Northwest.
• Experience applying for state-issued excavation permits in the Pacific Northwest.
• PI-level leadership with at least one testing or data recovery project.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local cultural resources regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects, overseeing technical approaches, QA/QC, and client objectives.
• Mentor staff and develop team protocols and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership and innovative project strategies.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and client/regulator stakeholders.
