Hadron Energy, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer - Design for Manufacturability to embed manufacturing considerations from concept to final fabrication for nuclear reactor components.

You will lead DFM strategy, coordinate with design and production teams, and ensure cost, quality, and schedule targets are met. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear component design, fabrication, or advanced manufacturing of complex mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing process optimization
  • Deep knowledge of welding, casting, machining, fabrication, and assembly for high-integrity mechanical components
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, and applicable welding/fabrication standards
  • Experience with manufacturing cost, schedule, risk, modularization, and production-readiness assessments
  • Proven ability to work directly with fabricators, suppliers, design engineers, and leadership to drive technically rigorous manufacturing decisions

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead Hadron Energy's Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodology across reactor component design
  • Translate engineering requirements into manufacturable solutions that optimize fabrication, assembly, material usage, cost, and schedule
  • Lead manufacturing strategy for welding, casting, machining, fabrication, and modular assembly of critical reactor components
  • Drive design-manufacturing reviews, trade studies, and cost-benefit analyses to eliminate manufacturing constraints early in the design process
  • Develop FOAK manufacturing plans and transition lessons learned into repeatable, standardized production processes
  • Lead manufacturing risk and readiness activities, including FMEA, Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments, and process qualification
  • Work directly with suppliers and fabrication partners to evaluate capabilities, qualify processes, and align component designs with practical manufacturing constraints
