Job summary

MaxHealth is a busy Primary Care network seeking a Referral Specialist to manage all referrals for our patients. The role ensures insurance coverage allows access to services and supports our Primary Care Physicians in directing patients to the best network.

This position is multi‑faceted and requires organization, clear communication, professionalism, and attention to detail. Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience as a Referral Coordinator in a Primary Care Office.
• Familiarity with value-based care and Medicare Advantage insurance.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely approval of referrals and streamline referral department workflow.
• Monitor quality of care related to patient benefit plans and contracted providers.
• Collaborate across teams to improve workflow, appropriateness, and outcomes.
• Initiate direct communication with healthcare providers to obtain complete information.
• Liaise between insurance, providers, and department to ensure referrals are processed correctly for specialty visits.
• Accurately chart all information in EHR/EMR.
• Provide coverage for other areas/departments as needed.
• Take on additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
