Job summary

The role involves coordinating referrals ordered by CFHC providers, verifying third-party information, obtaining appointments, and tracking referral status. The ideal candidate is a Certified Medical Assistant (preferred) or a high school graduate, with strong medical terminology knowledge, customer service skills, and proficiency in handling multiple priorities in a

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Experience with computer literacy is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of completing referrals ordered by CFHC providers.
• Complete referrals in a timely manner: STAT by end of business day; URGENT within 24 hours; ROUTINE within 72 hours.
• Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance and compile required documentation.
• Schedule referral appointments and ensure proper paperwork is provided.
• Notify patients of scheduled referral appointments.
• Document thoroughly and accurately.
• Track referrals to improve quality and continuity of care.
• Notify ordering provider and Health Services Manager of problems with referrals or authorizations.
• Maintain specialty provider list and payor sources accepted.
• Review referral log weekly for completion.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Health Services Manager.
