Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking experienced Make Ready Designers for remote work in the United States. The role focuses on overhead make-ready and joint-use design, evaluating pole conditions, NESC clearances, and modifications to develop construction-ready packages.

Applicants should have 2+ years in make-ready or electric distribution design, with proficiency in CAD/MicroStation and related platforms. Some travel and in-person orientation may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred).
• Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready design packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar utility design platforms is strongly preferred.
• Must hold a valid driver's license, maintain active auto insurance, and pass background, drug, and MVR screenings.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including minimal overnight travel.
• Ability to work a standard Monday–Friday schedule aligned to Eastern Time.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders.
• Review field collection and walkout data, pole information, attachment details, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required make-ready modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs (poles, transfers, attachment adjustments, guying, anchoring).
• Apply established NESC requirements and client design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design; support related overhead distribution design.
• Conduct permitting and easement research (pole ownership, right-of-way).
• Collaborate to resolve design conflicts and data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
• Perform quality-control reviews; support additional project responsibilities.
