Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design, joint-use engineering, and electric distribution projects across the United States remotely. The role focuses on evaluating pole conditions, applying NESC standards, developing construction-ready make-ready designs, and collaborating with project teams.

Applicants should have 2+ years in make-ready or related design, CAD proficiency, and willingness to travel occasionally; 2-week in-person

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred).
• Experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Review field data, pole information, attachment details, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements and attachments.
• Apply NESC requirements, utility standards, and client design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end design and support other overhead distribution work when required.
• Conduct permitting and easement research and coordinate with project teams to resolve conflicts.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
