Job summary

Leidos in Kansas City, MO is seeking Distribution Engineer/Designer who will perform design engineering for electric utility customers, develop work packages for OH, UG, URD and Make Ready, and coordinate with client GIS and field data to deliver high-quality designs.

You should have 2+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial fields, and proficiency with NESC.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred; other qualifications may be considered.
• Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable-pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations.
• Ability to provide own reliable transportation; local/regional travel reimbursed at IRS rates.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform design engineering for electric utility customers.
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, and Make Ready using GIS and various systems.
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work.
• Perform functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up.
• Maintain schedule adherence and align with client priorities.
• Initiate process improvements to drive efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and large design packages in urban environments.
• Be prepared for field and office work with possible site visits.
