Job summary

Fastly, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join the Platform Observability and Intelligence (POI) team. You will work on the internal observability stack, developer portal, and data pipelines to provide insights into network costs and capacity planning.

The role offers growth toward owning larger components and a hybrid/remote US work setup. You will contribute across the stack, collaborate with engineers, and participate in on-call rotations as needed, with emphasis on learning

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid project delivery
• Experience with statically typed back-end languages (Go, Java, Rust)
• Experience with front-end frameworks (React) or willingness to learn
• Experience with SQL and database-driven apps
• Experience with Linux and shell
• Experience with distributed systems or cloud services
• Comfort with large, unfamiliar codebases and proactive debugging
• Strong written communication and collaboration in an agile environment

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain software powering the internal observability function and developer experience
• Develop the internal developer portal and make services/docs discoverable in one place
• Break down requirements into tasks and own them through completion
• Debug across the stack from hardware to browser and multiple services
• Provide clear status updates and raise issues early
• Collaborate with engineers and participate in code reviews and planning
