Fastly, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join the Platform Observability and Intelligence team. You will design and build software powering Fastly’s internal observability and developer experience, contributing to the internal developer portal and data pipelines.

You will work broadly across the stack, own tasks end-to-end, and grow toward larger responsibilities. The role supports a hybrid work model with preferred SF/NY locations and US-wide remote options.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with statically typed backend languages (Go, Java, Rust).
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React) or willingness to learn.
• Experience with SQL and databases.
• Comfort with Linux and shell.
• Experience with distributed systems or cloud services.
• Ability to work across large codebases and perform thorough debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain software for Fastly’s internal observability and developer experience.
• Develop the internal developer portal to help teams discover services and tooling.
• Break down requirements into tasks and own them through completion.
• Debug issues across stack, from datacenter hardware to browser.
• Communicate status clearly and write helpful updates.
• Collaborate with engineers and participate in planning and on-call rotations.
