Job summary

Speechify seeks a Platform Software Engineer to own the backend systems powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across web and mobile platforms. You will help design APIs, ensure correctness, and improve reliability at scale.

The role emphasizes autonomy, async collaboration, and impact on a product used by millions, including people with learning differences. Expertise in TS/Node and cloud infrastructure is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Habit of delivering work and providing clear outcomes from it.
• Daily workflow with AI agents and automation to reduce manual tasks.
• Judgment about what not to build, and ability to explain why decisions were made.
• Preference for containerized deployments and high-availability architectures (Docker/Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Improve and optimize services you didn't write to be faster, cheaper, and more robust.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and implement checks to maintain correctness.
• Automate repetitive tasks and focus on higher-impact work.
• Replicate successful work to be reusable by the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture ahead.
