Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Permitting Analyst to build technical, regulatory, and project management expertise in renewable energy development. You will work with cross-functional teams across AES Clean Energy and support permitting, environmental review, land use entitlements, and agency coordination for utility-scale projects.

The role offers mentorship from senior project managers and exposure to all phases of project development, with potential remote work from AES locations in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geography, Natural Resources, Planning, Environmental Studies, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in permitting, environmental compliance, project development, or land-use planning.
• Familiarity with environmental permitting processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills across multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mapping tools (Google Earth).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior team members and cross-functional partners to support development through construction readiness.
• Conduct preliminary site evaluations, due diligence, and constraint analyses for project locations.
• Support permitting for wind, solar, energy storage, and other renewables across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to review and organize technical studies.
• Assist with management of consultants, contractors, and vendors while tracking schedules and budgets.
• Prepare project documentation and compliance packages for handoff to construction and operations teams.
• Engage in meetings with community stakeholders, elected officials, and regulatory agencies as appropriate.
• Contribute to cost optimization, vendor management, and invoice review processes.
• Identify project risks and help develop mitigation strategies under guidance.
