Job summary

Beyond Blue is seeking a PB Coder Associate to learn and perform basic professional billing coding under close supervision. You will apply medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines to assign codes for outpatient and physician services, while developing foundational coding skills through training and mentoring.

The role supports supervision in a remote environment with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in medical terminology and anatomy required.
• 0-2 years of healthcare or coding experience (externship, internship, or training program acceptable).
• RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCA, CCS-P or equivalent required.
• Volunteering or internships for academic credit not counted; full-time or part-time experience prorated as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assigns basic CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes with low complexity.
• Maintains productivity and quality standards in coding duties.
• Reviews medical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Learns organizational coding policies, payer requirements and compliance guidelines.
• Escalates complex cases to senior coders or coding leadership.
