Job summary

SSM Health is hiring a remote Coder II Professional to accurately code and abstract medical records for billing and reimbursement. You will review patient information, assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.

This remote position supports our mission from home, with eligibility rules by state. Candidates should have 2+ years of coding experience and hold AHIMA or AAPC credentials.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional coding experience required.
• Experience with CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding in medical records.
• Ability to resolve coding-related denials and assist with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage charge review and coding-related claim edit work queues for timely, accurate charge capture.
• Identify billable services from data sources including EHR, ADT, operative logs.
• Review records and post CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes; obtain records as needed; ensure guidelines.
• Consult with physicians to clarify documentation and educate on documentation improvement.
• Assist physicians with coding questions and provide feedback; identify education opportunities.
• Resolve charge sessions failing edits and improve billing based on findings.
• Train and mentor coding staff on policies; assist with terminology and procedures.
• Manage assigned charge review, claim edit, and coding follow-up work queues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
