Job summary

Willapa Behavioral Health is seeking a Billing Coding Specialist - Certified to handle medical coding and transcriptions for insurance claims. The role includes updating codes, preparing claims, and tracking payments, while providing courteous patient support.

Responsibilities include analyzing records, ensuring proper sign-offs, and using ICD-9-CM, CPT-HCPCS, DSM-IV coding; remote telehealth may be used as directed by management, with site-based on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher; related credentials preferred.
• Good organizational skills and ability to follow procedures and guidelines.
• Experience with medical/mental health claims processing.
• Experience billing and processing claims with public and private insurance.
• Explain charges to patients professionally and empathetically in disputes.
• Technologically savvy; up to date with software developments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in EMR documentation and telehealth.
• Must pass criminal background check and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
• Excellent customer service with a client focus.
• Able to sit, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Able to drive in varied Northwest weather; flexible to fill-in shifts.
• Meet WA health care vaccination requirements.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze patient records; obtain clarification on notes and charts to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure all records are properly signed off on.
• Assign the correct codes to all diagnoses and services.
• Enter and organize the codes into the management software.
• Be familiar with ICD-9-CM, ICPM, DSM-IV, and CPT-HCPCS coding systems; use the codes to bill insurance providers.
• Track patient data over multiple visits.
• Manage detail, specifically coded information.
