Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Technical Operations Support Specialist I for Payroll Tax Support. This fully remote US role focuses on delivering high-quality technical support across payroll tax functionality and related modules, including Excel-based data analysis and tax calculations.

The candidate should have 3+ years in customer service, strong communication skills, and a technical aptitude to learn new tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a customer service role; help desk/technical support preferred.
• Excel: import data, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• PC hardware/software installation and end-user training.
• Ability to learn new software and continue learning.
• Analyze data for high-level problem resolution.
• Learn database tools such as SQL.
• Strong math skills for reports and GL.
• Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
• Experience communicating with C-suite levels.
• Understanding HR and payroll tax setups and filings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by troubleshooting software/hardware issues.
• First point of contact for clients via cases, emails, and calls.
• Support modification of Time off, Attendance, Tax, GL, Reporting, and security requests.
• Document interactions and identify recurring issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and improve software.
• Share knowledge to support team learning.
• Use Excel to manage and analyze data.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical users.
• Represent the team in client interactions and meetings.
• Handle multiple communication and tracking systems; adjust as needed.
• Remain flexible to business needs and shifts.
• Build expertise in applications and ensure quality standards.
