Job summary

Light Environmental is seeking a detail-oriented Remote Payroll Assistant to support payroll operations and maintain accurate compensation records. You will assist with processing payroll, timekeeping, and employee data in our HR and accounting systems, while handling confidential information with integrity.

Responsibilities include reviewing timekeeping, calculating hours and deductions, onboarding new employees, generating payroll reports, and responding to questions from staff regarding pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting/finance coursework is a plus.
• Previous payroll or administrative experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Able to learn payroll, HR, and accounting software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, biweekly, or monthly payroll.
• Review timekeeping and attendance for accuracy.
• Enter and maintain payroll data in systems.
• Verify hours, overtime, deductions, and bonuses.
• Support onboarding and payroll setup.
• Maintain confidential payroll records.
• Answer employee payroll questions.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations and year-end tasks.
• Prepare payroll reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with HR and Accounting on payroll matters.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
• Perform general administrative and data-entry duties.
