Job summary

Ascend HR Corp is seeking a Payroll & HR Operations Specialist to manage payroll end-to-end for a portfolio of client companies. This remote role supports multi-state payroll, onboarding, and HR activities, collaborating with an HR generalist and a compliance specialist to ensure accuracy and timely filings.

Two or more years in payroll for the Specialist level, or five+ years for Senior, with multi-state registration and wage classifications.

Qualifications

• Two or more years running payroll for the Specialist level, five or more for the Senior level across more than one company.
• Multi-state payroll experience or willingness to learn quickly.
• Solid worker classification knowledge: exempt vs non-exempt, employee vs contractor.

Responsibilities

• Run payroll end to end: processing, tax filings, deposits, direct deposit, pay stubs.
• Handle multi-state registration and withholding as clients hire in new states.
• Manage garnishments, levies and support orders.
• Own quarterly and year-end filings, W-2s and 1099s.
• Set up and administer each client's HR system and maintain data accuracy.
