Missionwell, a nonprofit-focused provider, seeks a Payroll and Benefits Specialist for a fully remote role based in California. You will manage payroll operations, benefits administration, and year-end reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple nonprofit partners.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of payroll processing experience, strong knowledge of CA wage regulations, and excellent communication skills to support brokers, carriers, and client contacts.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of payroll processing experience, including CALifornia payroll.
• Experience with open enrollment and benefits administration preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing work.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls for multiple partners.
• Coordinate open enrollment activities and benefit elections.
• Reconcile payroll data and ensure tax compliance across jurisdictions.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation per policy.
• Collaborate with HRIS, brokers, carriers, and clients to resolve issues.
• Prepare year-end payroll reporting and respond to payroll notices.
• Monitor and support payroll and benefits audits.
