Job summary

Stantec is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Administrator to join our U.S. Payroll team, working primarily from home. You will process multi‑state payroll transactions, maintain records, and respond to employee inquiries while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will audit data, balance payrolls, and support system enhancements. Collaboration with HR, Benefits, and Finance is essential in this fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with automated payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Multi-state payroll processing and compliance knowledge.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws (FLSA).
• Payroll certifications preferred (FPC/CPP).

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions, including direct deposit, tax, and data changes, ensuring accuracy.
• Audit payroll reports and data entry to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Maintain accurate payroll records through daily data entry and documentation.
• Provide backup support for Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage administration.
• Assist with payroll balancing, reconciliation, and quality control activities.
• Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance to resolve payroll questions.
• Support payroll process improvements and operational efficiency.
• Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
