Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join the U.S. Payroll team. You will process payroll, audit data, and respond to employee inquiries across multiple states while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Working primarily from home, you will support payroll operations for North America, maintain records, and assist with process improvements to deliver accurate, timely payroll services.

Qualifications

• Experience processing payroll with automated systems.
• Multi-state payroll experience and compliance.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• FLSA knowledge is beneficial.
• Payroll certification (FPC/CPP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions with direct deposits and tax updates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Audit payroll reports and data entry to identify and resolve discrepancies before processing.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve routine issues.
• Manage the Payroll Manual Timecard inbox and enter approved corrections.
• Prepare, process, and distribute manual payroll checks and adjustments.
• Provide backup support for Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage administration.
• Maintain payroll records and documentation with daily data entry and filing.
• Assist with payroll balancing, reconciliation, and quality control activities.
• Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance and others to resolve payroll questions and ensure accurate processing.
• Support payroll process improvements and contribute to efficiency gains.
• Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
