Job summary

BMCHS is seeking a Patient Services Rep for a remote role, supporting up to 6 ambulatory practices. You will handle inbound/outbound communications, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage authorizations with a focus on accuracy and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include using Epic for records, providing clear home instructions, and ensuring privacy and HIPAA compliance while delivering excellent customer service from a home office.

Qualifications

• Ability to explain complicated healthcare issues to patients with empathy and concern
• Ability to empathize with and coach the patient in navigating the healthcare system
• Effective interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of professionals
• Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) with patients over the phone and in email
• Must be comfortable using multiple advanced communication tools (phone, chat, email, fax, mail)
• Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel & Outlook
• Ability to document work in a professional and efficient manner

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and staff using multiple communication tools (phone, chat, email, fax, mail)
• Resolves patient inquiries in a professional, empathetic manner
• Transfers calls to appropriate staff when needed
• Schedules and reschedules appointments using a computerized system
• Updates patient records in Epic
• Provides directions and lab/imaging instructions to patients
• Identifies process improvements and stays current on healthcare developments
• Escalates issues outside existing protocols
• Attends training sessions and assists in onboarding new personnel
• Participates in staff meetings and identifies obstacles to a positive patient experience
