Job summary

The Virtual Patient Observation Technician (VPOT) at Harris Health System provides constant, real-time video monitoring of assigned patients to enhance safety. The VPOT verbally redirects the patient from engaging in at-risk behaviors and communicates with nursing staff when intervention or assistance is needed.

The VPOT practices safety measures, documents observations, participates in performance improvement initiatives, and promotes a customer-friendly environment using ServiceFirst behaviors

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or the equivalent plus tech skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Licensure/Certification: Texas Nursing Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant certification; BLS.
• Work experience: Two years related clinical experience; tele observation/telemetry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant, real-time video monitoring of assigned patients to enhance safety.
• Verbally redirect patients from at-risk behaviors and contact nursing staff for interventions.
• Document observations according to standards and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Promote a customer-friendly environment using ServiceFirst behaviors and Language of Caring.
