Job summary

UW Medical Center – Montlake is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator within the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center. The role supports pre- and post-surgery coordination and acts as a liaison among patients, physicians, and care teams.

Responsibilities include triaging medical information, arranging tests and appointments, obtaining medical records, and ensuring smooth collaboration across departments to deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field is required, AND two years in a tertiary patient care setting with interaction across medical services and with patients and families; proficiency in medical terminology.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Triage medical information within the Heart Institute department for a variety of health care professionals with effective oral and written communication.
• Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments.
• Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
• Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., needed for patient care.
• Demonstrate organization and prioritization of clinic tasks; arrange interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery.
