Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Patient Billing Customer Service Representative for a remote role focused on supporting revenue cycle operations during an Epic system transition. You will be the main contact for patients, insurers, vendors, and third parties regarding billing inquiries, account research, and payment questions.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in healthcare patient billing and Epic experience within a business office or revenue cycle environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of healthcare customer service experience focused on patient billing or revenue cycle operations.
• 3+ years of Epic experience, specifically within the business office, patient accounting, or revenue cycle environment.
• Strong understanding of healthcare billing processes, including patient billing, insurance verification, deductibles, EOBs, Medicare, and revenue cycle operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for patient billing and account-related inquiries.
• Respond to billing questions via phone, email, voicemail, fax, and written correspondence.
• Handle a high volume of inbound calls while providing outstanding customer service.
• Research patient accounts and resolve first-level billing disputes.
• Escalate complex issues to appropriate departments when necessary.
• Enter, verify, and update insurance information accurately and efficiently.
• Assist patients with understanding bills, insurance coverage, deductibles, EOBs, Medicare, and payment responsibilities.
• Respond to insurance carrier, vendor, and third-party inquiries regarding account status and billing matters.
• Support workflow cleanup initiatives and Epic transition-related activities.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect confidential patient information.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely issue resolution and positive patient experiences.
• Meet productivity, quality, and response-time expectations while working independently.
